Here’s what happens when a must-win game remains tied after 90 minutes of regulation play. Ninety minutes is sometimes not enough to separate teams at the World Cup. The group stage can have its draws, but from the start of the knockout round through the final every match must have a winner and a loser — just one team moving on, and one team going home. So how do things work when we get to the end of regulation play and the score is tied? That’s where extra time comes in. If that doesn’t settle things, then it’s time for penalties. That’s what might happen in France vs. Argentina . What is extra time? It’s been three years since we could say that and we’re in a position for this event to go out with a bang. This is almost certainly the final year of the Quicken Loans National , a Tour stop that Tiger and his people organized and launched in 2007. Quicken is taking their sponsorship dollars to a new event in the Detroit area, and the “National” as a DC-area stop will likely cease to exist. Tiger Woods will have another late weekend tee time on Saturday, playing at 12:25 p.m. ET alongside Joel Dahmen. Woods started Friday’s second round near the cut line, but shot up the leaderboard with a 5-under 65. That put him in a tie for 11th place at the 36-hole midpoint and just four shots off the lead.
