Washington Capitals at Vegas Golden Knights
When: Wednesday, May 30, 8:00 p.m. ET
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
Betting Line / Total: Vegas -155 / 5.5 Goals
Vegas Golden Knights
On a night in which Marc-Andre Fleury wasn’t his super-human self giving up four goals, the Golden Knights had all of the answers on offense. Vegas’ relentless attack forced the Capitals into a number of big mistakes and turnovers in their own zone, many of which directly resulted in goals.
The end result was a frantic 6-4 Vegas win in the type of game that drives coaches crazy but makes for thrilling entertainment for the fans.
With Monday’s win, the Golden Knights are now 5-0 over their last five games. Vegas is 13-3 through 16 postseason games.
Washington Capitals
Washington’s top star Alex Ovechkin and head coach Barry Trotz both admitted in postgame interviews that the atmosphere and nerves of being in the Stanley Cup final had a negative effect on the team on the ice. It showed, especially in the two instances that the Capitals had a lead. It took the Golden Knights only two minutes and 56 seconds to erase Washington’s 2-1 lead and 91 seconds to erase its 4-3 lead.
The Capitals are 2-4 over their last six games and will need a much more focused effort on Wednesday night to get back on track.
Wednesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The OVER is 5-1 in Vegas’ last six games at home per the OddsShark NHL Database.
If Game 1 was any indication, hockey fans and bettors are in for a thrilling Stanley Cup final. Both teams should play better in their own zone as they settle into this series, but the offensive firepower on both of these teams should still produce plenty of fireworks.
