Deadline to reduce rosters to 53 players is Saturday at 4 p.m. ET

The preseason games are all complete, and now NFL teams will trim their rosters down to 53 players by Saturday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline. That means it’s time for roster cuts.

After four weeks of exhibition games the evaluation time is done, and roster battles will be decided. But getting cut doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the road for roster hopefuls, who will be waived and can potentially be claimed by other teams by 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Potential roster casualties around the league could include wide receiver Braxton Miller with the Texans, quarterback Robert Griffin III and wide receiver Breshad Perriman with the Ravens, quarterback Paxton Lynch with the Broncos, running back Ameer Abdullah of the Lions, cornerback Jason McCourty and running back Mike Gillislee with the Patriots, and wide receiver Jeff Janis with the Browns, among others.

After the waiver period expires on Sunday, teams can establish a practice squad of up to 10 players from the group that was cut, provided they meet certain eligibility requirements.
