Cardinals at Cavaliers OddsShark Matchup Report

Virginia Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have consistently been one of the nation’s best defensive teams in recent years under Head Coach Tony Bennett and this year’s squad is no exception. Virginia has smothered opponents all season long ranking best in the nation in scoring defense allowing only 52.1 points per game.

The team’s current 12-game winning streak hasn’t all come against soft opponents either, with three wins over ranked opponents this month topping North Carolina, Clemson, and Duke. The win over Duke came on the road as 3.5-point underdogs.

If they keep up this level of play, the Cavaliers could reach No. 1 in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time in 35 years. Virginia is currently ranked No. 2 with a 20-1 SU and 14-4 ATS record this season.

Louisville Cardinals

Given the circumstances swirling around Louisville basketball in the midst of major controversy and sanctions, it would have made sense for the team to suffer through a down year on the court. Instead, interim head coach David Padgett has done a good job of keeping his team focused and playing well through the program’s turmoil.

At 16-5 SU and 11-8 ATS, Louisville hasn’t been an elite team this season but has certainly been a competitive one. The Cardinals are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as an underdog with two outright upsets.

Wednesday night’s total is set at 121 points. The UNDER is 13-2 in Virginia’s last 15 games with a posted total according to the OddsShark College Basketball Database.

Louisville has looked pretty good on the road this season and is 6-2 SU and 7-1 ATS record over its last eight games. But facing one of the nation’s best and hottest teams on the road will be a tough obstacle for this group to overcome.
